No I am just so excited about seeing what people think of it and to see everyone elses finished films. It is a shame that some groups will not have their films finished for tomorrow but I am pleased that my group has worked well together and despite the problems we have each been going through we have managed to meet the deadline. I think this is one of the best groups I have worked with so I am very pleased with my choice of team members and would be happy to work with them again!

We have also finished our group workbook so now I am just concentrating on the last few documents for my personal reflexive workbook ready to hand in tomorrow.

We agreed with the criticism given in the interim crit that the audio of our film needed some work. There were a lot of gaps in sound and it felt like each of the characters talking separately rather than together in a conversation. This was unfortunate as they were all recorded together however we managed to up the pace of the piece by overlapping the voices at the end to create a flowing, bustling conversation which we were aiming for. We were suprised at the huge different it made and how much time was wasted in silence.

I am really pleased with the finished film and I am sure everyone will notice a substancial improvement from the rough cut last Tuesday. Now my concentration is on my personal reflextive workbook as we have now completed both the video and group workbook!

The Interim Critique was interesting. My heart skipped a beat when we saw the rough edit of a couple of groups who ideas seem to be very similar to ours. This came as a bit of a shock to the group as they had not pitched these ideas back when we pitched our ideas of the Fruit bowl and the Fridge. We were so pleased to be something completely different to the rest of the groups on this module however it does not seem so original anymore. Other members of the group were quite angry but I see it as something that would and will happen in our professional careers so we may as well get used to it now!

Anyway, I have chosen to take this as motivation to make our film even better. We still planned to go back into the editing suite to polish up the edit and add more sound and as we are on schedule we have the time to do this.

The feedback we recieved is as follows:

• Adjust pacing – to slow at the moment, add more dialogue
• Too many gaps in sound
• Tighten up audio
• Nice colouring – maybe play around with grading when editing to see if we can make it even better
• Sound design – gasp and bump
• Make the fruit being taken more dramatic

I found the feedback really useful. I was interested to hear that people felt the visuals are all good – I felt they still needed a bit more work and we probably will continue to play with them, perhaps tyring grading as Steve suggested

It seems the sound/dialogue etc is what needs the most work. We are hoping to meet with the voice actors again to record more sounds from them and perhaps re record the whole script. We were told that it does not sound like the actors were all together during the recording and that they each did it separately so it obviously does not flow particularly well. We are also considering re-casting the voice of the banana as we feel she is not the best actress and her character is very important.

I am really interested to see what people think of it and to hear their feedback! I hope they like it!

Once again we have taken on particular roles:

• Dave – button pusher
• Sophie – working alongside video logging sheet call out names of shots to view
• Sonia – working alongside audio logging sheet
• Sarah – Research into film festivals to enter our film into

Editing takes a long time and as our film is about fruit, we feel we need to use lots of different shots to make it interesting and to show the audience which character is speaking etc. Therfore today we tried to get as much of it edited as possible and we will come back and add more and change bits again and again until we are happy with it.

Unfortunately our Apple actor was not available at the same time as the rest of the actors so we recorded his lines separately and then afterwards spliced him into the main recording using Audition.

Again we each took on different roles during the recording:

• Sonia – sound technician
• Sophie – Script supervisor
• Sarah – Stand in Apple
• Dave – Runner
• Andrew – Runner

Hopefully we recorded enough takes and got a enough sound effects for the piece. The actors liked the script and seemed to really enjoy themselves which is great.

• Andrew – Main Camera Operator
• Sarah – Director and Sound recorder
• Sonia – Sound recorder, Camera operator, lighting
• Sophie – Director, Camera operator, lighting and Photographer
• Dave – Runner, lighting, safety officer

We were careful to make sure we did not obstruct the door to the shop and taped down any cables to the equipment to ensure the safety of everyone around including ourselves.

At the end of the shoot we Imported the Footage, Sound and Photographs on to Avid and returned the equipment to the loan shop.

Overall a very productive and enjoyable day, I think we were successful in gather plenty of footage to work with and I can’t wait to record the voice actors on Thursday and then start editting it all together!

We have delegated objects and equipment for each of the group to bring tomorrow as follows:

• Dave – Z1, Tripod, Marrantz, Rifle Mic, Nikon D80, Red Heads, Headphones, Gaffa tape, Extention Lead
• Sophie – Actors/Fruit, Blender, Sainsbury’s bag
• Sarah – Milk, Kitchen props
• Sonia – Food for the crew
• Andrew – Fruit Bowl

We have decided to bring a Nikon D80 to ensure we get some clear, sharp focused, close up shots of the fruit in case this cannot be established with the video camera. We will also take photos during the production process to show how things went and how the lights, set etc were assembled.

We decided that Kensington Studios is our favourite for many reasons:

• The style of the kitchen is very similar to the style and themes of the film – green worktops – natural and fruity
• Located within a residential area and therefore is not busy – little disruption when we are filming and we will cause little disruption to the shops business
• We have permission from the owner who has signed our release form and have organised a recce with him for tomorrow morning

Now we are going to get all the production documents finished, ready to begin filming next Monday!

We have also decided who we would like our voice actors to be and have started approaching them with our idea. Next we will be looking for a location to shot the film, very exciting!
